UN Laissez-passer allows the holder to travel to the Republic of Lithuania without a visa for up to 90 days within half a year.
Visas are issued at diplomatic missions or consular offices of the Republic of Lithuania abroad.
In order to get a visa an alien must submit:
- a valid travel document;
- an established form of application for Shengen Visa;
- one photo of 35x45 mm, corresponding to the age of an alien;
- the receipt of the paid consular fee;
- a valid document certifying his/her health insurance;
Additional documents for issuing a certain type of visa shall be submitted.
An airport transit visa (A) shall be issued to an alien who holds a visa or residence permit issued by the foreign state of his/her final destination to which he/she is traveling by transit via the international airport of the Republic of Lithuania, or who is entitled to travel to another country.
STATES WHOSE NATIONALS OR PERSONS WHO, THOUGH NOT NATIONALS OF THE STATES, POSSESS TRAVEL DOCUMENTS ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITIES OF THE SAID STATES, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO AIRPORT TRANSIT VISA REGIME

A transit visa (B) shall be issued to an alien, who holds a visa or residence permit issued by the foreign state to which he/she transits through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, or to which he/she is entitled to travel.
In order to get a short-stay visa (C) an invitation letter of a natural or legal person of the Republic of Lithuania for temporary arrival to the Republic of Lithuania contrived by a migration office of the police commissariat must be submitted.

* Visas shall be issued for the indicated period upon presentation of evidence that there are means of subsistence for arrival and stay in Lithuania - 40 EUR a day (traveler’s checks, credit cards with relevant bank receipt).
A national visa for a single entry (D) shall be issued to an alien, who has been granted a permit of temporary or permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania by the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior.
A national visa for multiple entries (D) shall be issued if alien submits the documents proving that he/she intends to enter the Republic of Lithuania periodically and while his/her main place of residence is in a foreign state and there is no requirement for an alien to get a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania.
Intending to enter the Republic of Lithuania for many times, the documents proving the necessity for multiple entries must be submitted.
Authorized civil servants of the state institutions issuing visa, are entitled to require additional documents proving the necessity to issue a visa (documents proving the purpose and conditions of the travel, means of subsistence in the Republic of Lithuania and means for travel to the country to which the applicant is entitled to travel).
The decision on the issue of visa shall be made within 10 days after the receipt of application.
How much does an issue of the Lithuanian visa cost?
A consular fee or a state levy is taken for visa issue.
The consular fee for issue of visa - 60 EUR.
WHAT ARE THE GROUNDS FOR EXTENSION OF THE PERIOD OF STAY IN LITHUANIA IN POSSESSION OF A VISA, AND WHERE TO APPLY FOR THAT?
The period of stay of an alien in possession of a visa expires when an alien had stayed in Lithuania for a period of a number of days indicated on a visa, on the date when a visa expires, and when the indicated amount of arrivals to Lithuania is used.
For an alien whose visa expired the period of stay in the Republic of Lithuania in possession of a visa may be extended for one of the following reasons, which emerged after the issue of the visa:
- acute illness, any other health disorder or condition of organism precluding the alien's departure from the Republic of Lithuania;
- professional activities;
- personal reason, which the alien could not have foreseen and could not avoid its emergence during his/her stay in the Republic of Lithuania being in possession of a visa;
- force majeure.
The alien's stay in the Republic of Lithuania being in possession of a visa the validity whereof has been extended may not exceed three months in any six-month period calculated from the date of entry into the Republic of Lithuania or Shengen states. The period of stay in the Republic of Lithuania in possession of a visa may be extended only once.
The Migration Office of Vilnius Chief Police Commissariat, Migration Office of Kaunas Chief Police Commissariat and Migration Office of Klaipėda Chief Police Commissariat shall take the decision to extend the period of stay in Lithuania being in possession of a visa.
WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITED WHEN APPLYING FOR EXTENSION OF THE PERIOD OF STAY IN LITHUANIA IN POSSESSION OF VISA?
An alien willing to extend the period of stay in Lithuania being in possession of visa, must submit:
- a valid travel document with Shengen visa;
- a personal applications of an alien and inviting natural or legal person;
- documents, proving the necessity of visa extension;
- valid document certifying that an alien has health insurance;
- the receipt of the paid tax for visa extension - 120 Lt.
